Welcome! Congratulations! You have decided to study English! This one decision can greatly improve your life. Learning English can help you travel the world, get a better job, get into a university, develop friendships, and give you confidence.

The best time to learn English is as a child, but the second best time is now. Right now you can start your journey towards a more enriched life. I hope that I can accompany you on this journey as your tour guide. In 15 years, I have guided literally thousands of people through this same journey. I know the land like the back of my hand because I was born here. English is my native language. Unlike teachers who have studied English or “have some American friends”, I have countless life experiences to draw upon when considering the best words to use in a situation. Native English speakers see nuance, mood, intent, mistakes and beauty in English that other English teachers can’t. We can show you where translation is a bad idea, where “German” style communication is a terrible idea, and where a seemingly strange approach will make you understood more easily.

There is not one route to your destination, but many routes. As well, there are many destinations. Your goal might simply be to generally improve your communication skills so that you can make friends or enjoy travelling. For this destination, the best route is to give you lots of talking time and build your ease in speaking. We might spend a lot of time chatting about Youtube videos, having conversations about news articles and blog articles, doing personality quizzes, and of course fixing the grammar points that are blocking your communication. When you arrive at your destination, you will speak in English without hesitating and without any road blocks.

Maybe your last journey into English brought you to the place where you can communicate well, but you feel frustrated with your level because your grammar map is unclear, confusing, missing pieces, and sometimes leads you to the wrong destination. You’re often not sure if you are on the right grammatical road. You’re not sure if you understand exactly what people are saying. You want to feel more confident and know that you are speaking correctly. The path here is harder, steeper, longer. A focus on grammar can help. For grammar, I introduce the situation and then relate it to the concept. Once you have a working understanding of the idea of the grammar point, we do exercises for you to practise the syntax and differentiate from other grammar tenses. Next, you will have an opportunity to use the grammar in a controlled environment. At this stage, I will still guide you to make sure you are on track. Finally, at the end of the lesson, you will have a situation where you can speak freely and use the grammar point without my guidance. When you reach this destination, you will feel that you have more control and confidence.

Perhaps your work is your focus and you would like to arrive at a better job with more international activity. For this trail, we change the context, situation, vocabulary and goals. Instead of hobbies, sports, and food, we’ll talk about sales, production, and finance. You will be put in various business situations such as meetings, presentations, and negotiations. We can discuss business trends and topics of the day or you can even bring in some of your own work. If you need some help with an email or a presentation, we can work on it in class. When you arrive at your destination you will feel confident in many business situations. You will be able to express your ideas and convince others.

Many English travellers like to see a few different attractions. You might want to have a tour that is specific for you. Some conversation, some grammar and vocabulary, and some business English. You can choose any combination you wish or even ask for something more specific.
